Leica RTC300, RTC500 and RTC700: the next-generation RTC series

On 9 June 2026 Leica Geosystems announced a new RTC laser scanner series, the RTC300, RTC500 and RTC700, as the successors to the RTC360 that has anchored survey-grade capture since 2018. The RTC700 sits at the top of the range and is the model VirtualSpace has added to its fleet.

What changed

• A new accuracy and productivity benchmark, in Leica's words, with faster scans and cleaner data at range than the RTC360.
• Real-time data streaming from the scanner to the field tablet, so registration and quality checks happen while the crew is still on site.
• Three tiers, letting a firm match the scanner to the job rather than buying one flagship.

Why it matters to clients

The RTC360 was already the reference scanner for as-builts where millimetres matter: structural surveys, heritage recording and MEP coordination. The RTC700 keeps that role and removes the day of office registration that used to follow a large job. For VirtualSpace clients that means BIM-ready clouds delivered faster, still paired with a Matterport tour for the people who never open a point cloud.
