FARO Blink: SLAM meets the tripod

FARO introduced Blink on 15 April 2025. It is a compact imaging laser scanner and the first FARO tripod unit with an integrated SLAM system, which means each scan knows where it was taken and registers against the last one before the operator moves.

What Blink does well

• One-touch capture with automated workflows in FARO Sphere XG, so a non-surveyor can produce a usable cloud.
• Fast 360° imagery that makes the output look and feel like a Virtual Space, not just a cloud of dots.
• Field registration that removes most of the office processing that used to follow a Focus job.

Where it sits

Blink competes with the Leica BLK360 and, in some jobs, with a Matterport Pro3. Its accuracy is better than Matterport's and its imagery is better than most mobile scanners', which makes it a natural choice for interior as-builts on showrooms, retail units and offices under about 30,000 sq ft. VirtualSpace keeps the Focus Premium for long-range exterior and structural work.
